In the last week there has been increased speculation that Nemanja Vidic would be seeking a move away from Old Trafford this summer with Real Madrid his likely destination.

It wouldn’t be the first time either.

Only months ago the same rumours were about and Vidic again moved to quash them stating he would remain at the club.

But with his agent Paolo Fabbri claiming,

“We are waiting for Nemanja to tell us what we he wants to do. We are waiting as it is up to him. He is concentrating on something else [the World Cup] so I guess it won’t be until after the World Cup he makes a decision on his future. We have requested some time from Manchester United to think about things and Nemanja does not want to look at things until after the World Cup. Any eventual transfer will take place only after the World Cup.”

you would be right in thinking there was an element of truth to this latest rumour.

To make matters worse the club was linked with defenders like Juve’s Giorgio Chiellini and Rosario’s Guillermo Burdisso whilst Palermo revealed we had made enquiries about Danish defender Simon Kjaer.

So this makes the situation even more interesting asĀ  David McDonell of The Mirror has claimed Vidic smiled when asked if he’ll be at United next season and said ‘Definitely, definitely’, following Serbia’s victory over Germany.

This is the latest in a number of Vidic refutals but the frequency with which he is linked with a move away is getting worrying and if we did infact enquire about Kjaer as Palermo have claimed then I’m inclined to believe there is no smoke without fire.

Only time will tell if I guess.

In the absurd world of sports salaries, I suppose it’s “fair” if he was expecting to be paid according to being one of the best in the world at his position. It would make little sense in selling him as he’s at his prime and you already know it’s virtually impossible for his replacement to be any better than him.

That being said, if he’s simply way too greedy or just wants to live near the Mediterranean, we should sell while his value is high. Cashing in and getting a “Benz” is better than getting nothing a year from now.

This saga simply highlights why academy players are more adventageous. Let’s face it, among Europeans for every Reina or Evra who display club loyalty, there are about 9 Ronaldo’s, Cesc’s etc… (Btw, I know he’s in a Liverpool jersey, but I can’t help but respect Reina who has so much class and integrity)

Did anyone catch Heittinga’s comments about Barca a few weeks ago? Something along the lines of: “If Barca asked me to play there I’d ride there on a tricycle if they asked me to.” It totally shames the club and how can fans show devotion to a player after a comment like that.

Since so many disloyal players want to go to Barca and Real, maybe the teams should create several split sqauds and start it’s own league to accomodate these bellyachers.

Vidic isn’t on terrible money so thats why I’m confused!

I didn’t even see that Heittinga comment, total shambles. But this is becoming a ridiculous trend in the game, Chiellini has basically been using United to try arange a better deal at Juventus.
His agent basically said he deserves the contract of a top player then name dropped a couple teams.

There is a lack of loyalty in the game and it’s quite sad to be honest.

I second the Reina thing as well, class act if ever I saw one regardless of club.

Found the quote I mentioned regarding Heitinga. It’s actually far worse and cannot simply be brushed off as a mis-quote.

    Jonathan – spot on there.

Flipping hell thats a massive lack of respect! He was even talking about joining Liverpool?
I would find it hard to get fully behind him after stunts like that. Remember when Heinze tried his hardest to get a move to Liverpool?

I guess money reigns over all these days.
