Many of us were expecting a messiah to come in this summer and fill the still vacant role Ronaldo created when he went to Real Madrid.

The likes of Van Der Vaart, Sneijder, Balotelli and Ozil were all mentioned raising hope and blood pressure everywhere.

Well I’ve got some bad news… it’s not going to happen.

It became quite obvious signings would be unlikely when Sir Alex continually repeated his refrain, “There’s no value in the transfer market” and we baulked at signing Joe Cole on a free but now Sir Alex has again reiterated this stance I think it’s well and truly the end of my transfer muppetry.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game against Philly Union Sir Alex said,

“I can’t speak for other clubs to be honest with you but we are comfortable with the squad we’ve got. We’ve bought players at the right time of the season, and we are quite happy with that.”

So that’s the end of me then 🙁

We didnt baulk at joe, you cant baulk at a geezer when the geezer in question was never wanted by the gaffer in the 1st place, you need stop believing everythink read and take notice of what the club saids, Sir Alex made clear from get go he didnt want joe, it was just a media spin to boost the ego of a massively over-rated aging hack who is fading away into nothing quickly.

True @AS we were linked with him but it was never confirmed that we were infact in for Cole. It was stated by the club that we didn’t want him though.

Im happy we never wanted him, why should a reject who aint good enough for a flipping chelsea side get to join the biggest club in the world, he shouldnt and anyways cleverley is 8yrs younger and twice the player joe ever was, cleverley will be utds next break out star.

I would have loved a new midfielder to have been signed. I felt we only needed a central midfielder. However that doesn’t mean we won’t have a strong squad next season. I believe we will because of the young players we have got at the club.

We have signed Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez. They shouldn’t be forgotten just because they were signed early. They both have terrific potential. We saw Hernandez at the World Cup and he has something special. He scored 2 goals and they were against France and Argentina. He looked strong and seems a good finisher. If he is trained well he could be one of the top strikers in Europe in 2 years. Also Smalling is raw but he looks exactly like Ferdinand at a similar age. Alot of class but has rough edges in his game. But you have to be a good player to be rated by Hodgson, Wenger and of course Ferguson.

On top of these two we have De Laet and Fabio, who have both a year older, and will strenghten our defence. Evans is class and he will get better. Rafeal is also class and will learn from last season. Its vital though we retain Vidic because he is improtant for our defence, especially as Rio is becoming injury prone.

The midfield is my main concern, but it wouldn’t be if Anderson fufils his potential. I might be asking alot from him, but hopefully he uses Nani as an example of how you can turn things around. The guy has terrific ability, but needs to change his attitude a little. I’m also hoping Tom Cleverly will break through and show he a Man Utd player. The guy has impressed at Leicester and Watford, and should get his chance. He could be a future Steven Gerrard for Man Utd. Then there is Gabriel Obertan who, to me, looks like he has alot of ability. He is raw but should be given games. I think he is a potential match winner and can change games, even from the bench. I hope Gibson really comes on next season because Ferguson rates him, although I’m unsure. He has a good shot on him but his all round game hasn’t impressed yet.

Upfront we have young strikers, but mainly we have Rooney. I have a feeling we might start seeing a more relaxed and confident Berbatov. If he starts playing to his real level it will be like a new signing. After those two you have Hernandez, Owen and the raw, but exciting, Macheda. We also have Diouf who I’ve seen little of but is rated by Ferguson. Welbeck looks like he is filling out but is likely to go out on loan.

In summary we have alot of young players, who if given a chance, will add 3-4 new players to the squad. Ferguson is right in that if we don’t give them chance another club will benefit. I don’t won’t see to Tom Cleverly become an England international while playing for another club. I also don’t won’t to see Anderson fufil his undoubted potential at another club and become a full Brazillian international.
