The Sun have revealed Nike’s official promo for the away kit. Initially met with a negative response, it seems a bit better when you actually see it on a person.
The Guardian are warning that Wayne Rooney must put the World Cup behind him if he is to succeed again this season ahead of tonight’s friendly against an Airtricity League XI to open the new Aviva stadium in Dublin.
I don’t think the WC will affect him, the whole team played poorly rather than just him. If it had just been him I could understand the commotion. He’ll get over it.
Our supposed interest in Lassana Diarra is alive again as The Guardian amongst other have again linked us with the former Arsenal & Chelsea midfielder. Having signed Khedira it appears he is on his way out of the Bernabeau as he is surplus to requirements and we are looking to make a cheeky bid, we could do worse.
Looks like Tom Cleverley won’t be joining Newcastle. He will be going on loan but appears to prefer Bolton as he wants to stay local. Some playng time at a more established Premier League team (not saying they are a bigger side, just that their place in the league is more concrete than Newcastle’s is) under Owen Coyle could be good for him.
I would much rather Cleverley went to Bolton, seemed to work well for Wilshere last season. Newcastle loaned Rossi and never played him, a move that effectively ended his chance of making it at Utd, hope the same doesn’t happen again.
I’m not altogether against a loan move for Cleverley, but I wonder if we should only consider it for the latter half of the season. With Anderson and Hargreaves out awhile, we are actually a bit thin on central midfielders. Additionally, it will give us a chance to see if he can handle 1st team action and decide whether he even needs another year away. If he does, there will still be a host of teams willing to take him in January.
Funny DeRossi was brought up, he’s also in the rumour mill about returning to United.
