United have been drawn with Valencia, Rangers and Bursaspor in the Champions League group C. It’s not a terrible group and we could have done a lot more travelling but last time I did a post like this I celebrated the fact we got Bayern Munich and we ended up going out.
It will be interesting to see how Valencia fare without Villa & Silva although Banega, Joaquin and especially Juan Mata should ensure this is competitive.
Rangers will be an interesting game England vs Scotland again as well as Sir Alex going head to head with an old assistant in Walter Smith. Rangers return to Manchester will worry the Greater Manchester police force following the havoc they caused in 2008 but purely in terms of football it’s a comfortable tie.
Bursaspor are an unknown quantity. I am unaware of any of their players off head although a google shows Ergic plays for them a name I remember from our games with Basel (Ruud Van Nistelrooy scored one of the greatest goals I’ve ever seen against them). Turkey is always a tricky trip and a long one too and having won their league last season they can’t be too bad.
Over all not too bad, I’m quite pleased and confident we will not only qualify but win the group but as I learned last season with Bayern Munich nothing is certain.

Not as easy as Arsenal’s group, but overall no complaints. On another note, I always laugh at European’s concept of travel times. Turkey is what, 2 hours longer sitting first class on a plane than going to Germany or Italy? Here in North America, our pro teams travel at least that distance and more at least 3 days a week. It is indeed “the beautiful game” but sometimes footballers need to man up.
Funny you say that, I was thinking of that during the US tour. I flew to NY last summer and that was a reasonably long journey then I wondered what about flying to LA? Probably a lot longer!
good group. Valencia, Rangers & Bursaspor, now that is an interesting group but we should have no problems and win atleast 4 games here. I knew chelski was going to get a rather easy group, group g or as I like to call ìt group galactico will be good with AC Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax & Auxerre if I recall correctly. Safe to say, Tottenham are going out already. Arsenal got an easy group but the fact they are crap will see them and their NOT YOUNG side struggle. I Believe we can win it this year.

Looking forward to Bursaspor as we never played them before and love it when face new blood, good to meet Rangers again- 6 easy points and Valencia should be a good tussel but for me, Bursaspor is the wild card. Big shock once again chelski gets an easy group, every flipping year this happens, every flipping year. Man Utd should top group no sweat and me i predict early eliminations for london, around qf is best they get while we win it, 2011 Champions League winners- Man Utd.
