Michael Carrick as well as Bebe are part of United’s party that travelled to Spain for the game against Valencia.
Carrick has been out for the past 3 weeks with an achilles injury and his lack of defensive cover in the midfield could be the key as to why we have leaking goals at such a worrying rate whilst Bebe could be playing some sort of role with the injury to Ryan Giggs. There is also a place for Rio Ferdinand having missed out on Sunday’s game at Bolton.
Obvious we know of the omissions of Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs but also Paul Scholes and Gary Neville have not travelled with the team either as we face an inform Valencia who sit atop of the La Liga table.
I would start with:
van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Berbatov, Owen
I guess we will find out more about our young players tomorrow no matter what the starting 11 is but one thing for sure is if O’Shea starts ahead of Rafael in this game I will be tossing the TV outside.

It’ll be interesting to see how much pay-off we’ll see from SAF missing Scunthorpe to watch the Atlético game.
Big loss with Scholesy out. Carrick will really need to get himself together or Fletcher will be overwhelmed in midfield. Can’t really see there being a role for Bebé but it’ll be a great chance for Berbs to take his great form into the lone striker role.
And I’m with Sheldon. Pleeeeease, Rafael at right-back.
People seem to underestimate Gibson but i’ve watched him closely and I see improvements on his allround game. He’s a better shout than Carrick for me right now and when he works some more on making space to get his shots in, He will be a feared player. He will become a very very good player.
Rafael has to start… We saw against Bayern how devastating he is as a full-back. Big choices for Fergie to make on the night, Carricks defense and distribution could be key and perhaps a chance for Anderson to come back into favour.. but i honestly feel that despite the injuries United have we can over-power and outplay Valencia. Fingers crossed.
