You’ve only just returned from injury, you haven’t cemented your place in the team yet and there has been talk about your commitment so talking about playing for another team probably isn’t the smartest thing to do right now is it?

Tell that to Anderson!

The mercurial Brazilian midfielder has today come out talking of his wish to return to former club Porto and has been quoted as saying:

“I am good in Manchester but I’d like to return to Portugal and my preference would be Porto.”

Now the validity and source of this quote hasn’t been revealed so he may not have even said it, I remember 2 seasons ago I think it was when he was quoted as saying he wanted to join Inter, but if he did I am mighty disappointed. I hate getting into the whole ‘so and so owes the club’ but really I feel Anderson does. He hasn’t shown us his best consistantly and after the shambles that was his last season I like everyone thought he would knuckle down and just show us his best this term so to read this is quite annoying.

Let’s just hope its another poorly translated interview again ey!

To be honest he is more effort than is needed, may have all the promise but will we ever see it?

He would probably be better off going back, then he’d get to play in his best position up front and might start playing well again, regain his confidence.

He adapted pretty well that first year to the physical side of our game, even embracing it to become a holding player, but that’s a bit of a tragedy when you consider he was once a fiery attacking midfielder, or even an out and out winger at times.

Send him there on loan and give him a year to recover his confidence, then try him again as a more mature and balanced individual.

I’ll try and give him the benifit of the doubt like Rohit. I hope this guy can prove himself, but apart of me wonders if part of the problem is just that he’s not suited for the EPL.
At his age, he deserves a full year to see if he can show marked improvement, but I wonder if he’s someone like Veron where ability isn’t the issue, but just suited for a different style of play.
    Time will tell.
