This is getting as boring as it is frustrating as again United threw away a lead and dropped points.
We took an early lead through Hernandez and Nani doubled the lead after some good work with Berbatov but in what was a nightmare couple of minutes, 2 errors saw West Brom take a share of the points.
After an Evra own goal, an uncharacteristic mistake from Edwin Van Der Sar saw West Brom level.
The adage United don’t do anything the easy way sticks in mind as we have a massive task ahead of us to claw back all these points we have dropped.

As I am an United fan for more than 20 years, it’s very sad to say “GET USE TO IT!!! WE ARE NO LONGER BETTER THAN THE OTHERS”….

As I keep saying in my comments that WE ARE SIMPLY NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!! (some may not believe this), but as the time goes by, it will prove that’s IT’S TRUE…. While the other teams keep on improving and strengthening their squads, United unwisingly keep on signing and adding number of average quality and unknown players to sit on the bench. United keep on wasting an limited amount of money (due to an enormous debts from the Glazers) and none of them is good enough to help the team when we need a goal.

Everybody knows that the Glazers is bad for Man.United, but surprisingly SAF and David Gill, however, keep on saying that they are good for the club. WHY??? What are the benefits (behind the scene) that SAF and Gill get from the Glazer???

In terms of quality, we are going backwards. Three years ago, we still have players like C.Ronaldo and C.Tevez who can be rated as TOP PLAYERS and can score goals and win game for us even when the team didn’t play well. Nowadays, who can do special things like that???

LET”S BE HONEST TO YOURSELF, IT’S NO POINT TO KEEP ON PRAISING YOUR PLAYERS IF THEY ARE NOT REALLY THAT GOOD!!!. Comparatively, our midfield players are behind Chelsea, Arsenal, City, or even Liverpool. Chelsea have top players like Lampard, Essien, and Mikel, while Fabregas, Rosicky, Walcott and Nasri are top class and playing good and entertaining football for the Gunners. City have A.Johnson, J.Milner, and super Y.Toure in their midfield while Gerrard is better than our Carrick, Fletcher, or Anderson.

Players like Obertan, Bebe, Gibson, Carrick, Park, etc. are just good to sit on the bench (shouldn’t be signed by Man.United). We need top class midfielders to replace Scholes and Giggs. We need to change the scout in the transfer market (We always over-paid for players and I don’t think that Martin Ferguson is good enough for Man.United). In the last 6-7 years, maybe only C.Ronaldo is the only signing that make the fan really happy (we signed him just because he played well against us in the friendly match and our players told SAF to sign him, not the scout). We keep on linking with top class players like Ribery, Schneijder, VDV, Villa, Benzema, Ozil, Y.Toure, etc. but end up signing with the players like Anderson, Tosic, Owen, Chicharito, Bebe, etc. WHY????…. Is that the latter group of players are cheaper and can have more rooms for corruption???

There was no heart or fight in the display..I can’t fathom what gibson is doing in a united shirt, also what kinda midfield is scholes gibson, who is the ball winner there..Gibson?

Gazzaro, can you please list the players we have bought in th epast who of the calibre you have mentioned, ie international top quality names who you would normally see playing for one of Europe’s top teams (Madrid, Barca Inter etc). In my opinion, the sort of players Fergie is buying is the sort he has always bought.

Thanks Ian for asking… If you ask, I will answer.

Considering only midfield players, in the past, we’ve signed top class players like Ince, Kanchelskies, Keano, Veron, Hargreves, C.Ronaldo, etc. who all wanted by other clubs both in EPL and across Europe (If these players make a move, with their quality, they can easily go straight into the starting 11 of the team like Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, or some can even play for Barca or Real Madrid. Commparing to the present squad, do you think any of our midfielders is good enough to go straight into the starting 11 of the team like Chelsea, Arsenal, City or Liverpool (not to mention our competitors in UCL like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter, B.Munich).

Nowadays, the players we signed are Park (6 million), Tosic (7 million), Obertan (3.5 million), Valencia (17.5 million), Anderson (18 million), Bebe (7.6 million), etc. WHY???…

These players are not coming with cheap… WHY??? (The only reasin I can think of it is because there is no real competition for the signature of these players, so they can up the price to make room for corruption from the transfer fee)…

Comparing to the others, Arsenal, for example, signed Nasri (8 million), Rosicky (7 million) durign the same period United pay 18 million for Anderson. Tottenham paid the same amount of money that United paid for Bebe to get their Dutch star, Van Der Vart. WHY???

  6. Ian says:

    Gazzaro,
Veron is the only player in the catagory you mentioned. Kanchelskis was a young unknown player bought for 0.5M, Keane and Ince are Irish & British (Man Utd usually have the first pick of all “home” players, like Cole, Yorke, and Rooney). Irwin was a cheap, Irish player and Cantona was cheap and already playing here. Ronaldo was another example. Fergie sold Beckham for 25M and bought an 18 year old for 12M, promising, up and coming. Chicarito is an identical purchase to Solskjaer; cheap, young and unknown. You could say the same for Bebe. RVN & Stam were at PSV so Man Utd was a step up. Players like Henning Berg and Ronnie Johnsen were hardly big names. Evra and Vidic were unknown. Of course, Beckham, Giggs and Scholes came through the ranks, now we have Evans, Gibson, Fletcher, Macheda and soon Cleverly. They may not be as good as Beckham, Giggs and Scholes but that’s not the point. It’s the way Fergie does it. It looks like we could have had VdV but I bet an enquiry would have resulted in a price of 15M+. All I’m saying is that we have never managed to buy a Kaka, Zidane of Figo so why would we be able to buy a Ribery or Schneider now. Fergies spending is just as it has always been. The problem is that the competition has got better.

COME ON IAN, I’m an United fan, but we’ve got to accept the fact!!!…

The main point I would like to blame for our backwards is the quality and performance of United’s Scouts in the Transfer Market (POOR SIGNINGS, OVER-PAIDED, and CORRUPTIONS)!!!…

In the past, United’s Scout performed very well in the transfer market. Players like Kanchelskies, Schmeicle, Cantona, etc. are quality players and we bought them cheaply (Well Done). We also bought RVN and Jaap Stam who are top star for Dutch International team. Veron is a top player but his style of play didn’t suit EPL. Keano, when he signed for us the fee was British Record. AND… YES, you’re right… the young generation like Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Neville brothers are better than the current young generation. However, in the past, when we signed new players (such as the players mentioned above), they, with their quality, will go straight into the starting line up of Manchester United… And… the overall picture is we did a good business in the transfer market.

Nowadays, we’ve got to accept that the quality of signings are going backwards. Even though our youngsters are weaker than the past, but when the new signing come in, they will mostly go straight to sit on the bench, and most of them will sooner relegrated to the reserve side.

The problem is the players like Anderson, Tosic, Valencia, Obertan, Bebe, Chicharito didn’t come in with cheap. I honestly believe that we are over-paided for their signatures. If you sum the amount of fee we pay for them, we can sign maybe at least 2-3 top class players and enhance quality of the starting line-up effectively.

THE FACT IS THE FACT… It’s no point to lie yourself… praise your players which infact they are not really that good. Did Arsenal spend more money than us??? The answer is “NO… They spend less”… But if you honest to yourself, apart from Scholes and Giggs who are already pass 35, is there any United midfielder better than Fabregas, Nasri, Walcott, or Rosicky???

Any of these 4 if come to United will go straight into the starting 11, and will become a star very soon.

  8. jonathan says:

I’m close to agreeing with Ian but see Gazarros’s point. First of all, please don’t insinuate Valencia as a bust or overpaid for. Moreover, he is a United midfielder who is better than Nasri, Walcott and Rosicky – and I’m sure most managers around the world would feel the same.
You didn’t mention Nani either who virtually any neutral would take over the same list above.

As for the other suspects, Carrick is only average, but he was hyped at the time of his purchase and for over two seasons lived up to it.
Anderson was hyped, but I’d agree he’s verging onto a bust unless he proves something and soon. But I don’t see any corruption consiracy here.

The more I see of Gibson, the more I’m tempted to join the ranks of doubters. Apart from his shot, he hasn’t proved to possess any more skill than an average EPL player. Doesn’t win the ball, run very fast or have long range passing. Apart of me is leaving him some grace, but he needs to show something.
I think it is an overstatement to say our midfield is poor. We’re very strong on the wings but we do lack depth in the middle which is a problem. For that reason, I’d only agree City and Chelsea have more depth (but I see now way in hell how you’d rather have Arsenal’s or Liverpool’s midfiled).

Apart from Scholes and Fletcher, things aren’t looking promising in the middle. I think we should give Ando a few more months and see what Hargreaves can do. But odds are we need to do something in that area and we shouldn’t become too attached to players who are good but not great.

Oh, and agree that VanderVaart is looking like a HUGE miss for us.

I think GAZZARO made a good point. Mancheter United is one of the biggest club in the world, but why we seem very happy to keep on spending and signing players to sit on the bench.

We used to be the best. We keep on spending money. But why we are no longer where we used to be.

Additionlly, why Sir Alex keep on praising the Glazer. That’s very doubt!

So frustrating. As much as I can see some of complaints of gazzaro (how the hell did we not get in for Van De Vaart or Ozil this offseason?) Or why did we not take a shot at Robben in the summer of 09? (he would have been perfect..) despite all this crap we really should be near at the top of the leaguebecause of some of these improbable results such as today’s draw , the everton draw (and if nani takes the pk at fulham) the fulham draw, so maybe things will turn around. We actually play some nice stuff, but then take our foot off the pedal, miss tap ins, weird shit we never do.. i cant figure it out but im frustrated.. In the mean time, time to cheer up with some beers..
