All the signs are positive that Danny Welbeck will have a career at Old Trafford after he completes his loan spell at Sunderland.

It was thought that Welbeck could be prised away from Old Trafford after starring whilst on loan at the Stadium of Light, scoring 6 times already.

And with Sunderland recently receiving £18m from the sale of Darren Bent to Aston Villa, this further fuelled rumours that Steve Bruce would pursue a move for Welbeck but Sir Alex has dispelled any notion of this telling Key103:

“Steve has as much chance of getting me,”

With Michael Owen’s contract to expiry at the end of the season Welbeck could find himself in the 4th striker role at United at the start of next season.

Welbeck has undergone exploratory surgery on a mystery knee injury so will be out for up to 8 weeks which will come as a massive blow to Sunderland especially with the sale of Bent.

I dont understand this speculation over the future of Danny Welbeck.Sir Alex made it crystal clear in a press conference at Carrington a few weeks ago, when asked by a Journalist about the likelyhood of Steve Bruce signing Danny. He squashed the talk in no uncertain terms and said this will NOT! be happening.
What is the point of having a youth policy and then ditching it at the first sign of “Interest”from elsewhere.
He was sent out on loan to obtain regular game time which HE has and grasped his chance and risen to the occasion.
These PIE IN THE SKY, figures of his worth is exactly that, speculation!.Should he develop at a similar rate as he has achieved at Sunderland in half a season, in two /three years he would be priceless!.
Investment in Uniteds future.Going no where.

SAF has said things in the past that don’t always come to fruition. I am glad Wellbeck will not be sold. We need to allow such talent to flourish rather than sell them for an expensive foreign import.
