This past Saturday United’s u18s again took to the road to for another league match.

Last week they made the short trip to Bolton and this week it was to West Brom. Having lost 1-0 to Bolton they were looking to bounce back but it wasn’t to be as they went down 3-2, a turn around from the 3-1 win in November.

West Brom found themselves 2 up just before the break when the ever dangerous Berahino converted a penalty following a Michael Keane handball and then turned provider, crossing from the right for Nabbi to prod home from close range past a helpless Sam Johnstone.

If you assumed the game was done when West Brom converted their second penalty just after the break you would have been wrong as United’s famous fighting spirit kicked.

Jesse Lingard fired past the West Brom keeper from just out side the box in an attempt to spark a comeback just minutes after and United pushed for a second and although they got one it came too late.

In stoppage time Paul Pogba cut in from the left, picked his spot and fired a spectacular effort past the West Brom keeper, we have come to expect the spectacular from Pogba but every time he does do something like this it still takes your breath away and you have to remind yourself he is only 17.

The goal came too late though and United slumped to a second defeat in 2 games but will be looking to get straight back on the winning path at home to Crewe on Saturday.

How come the great Man Utd and its famed youth system can lose to a club like West Brom. In all in fairness we are scouting the ends of the world for talent and yet we can’t beat West Brom.
Surely Paul McGuinness has to look at himself and ask some questions. I remember going out of the Youth Cup to Carlisle a few years ago. west Ham should have knocked us out this year. What is he doing there???

I was at the West Ham game, no they should not have knocked us out and we beat West Brom in November so don’t read too much into this!

Paul McGuinness is doing a wonderful job and if you do a bit of research you will see our players singing his praises.

2 bad decisions mate lets not make a mountain out of a mole hill.

I’ve nothing against him personally, and of course the players are going to sing his praises, something would be seriously wrong if they said he was crap!! We’re 5th in the table behind Bolton and Wolves…
However, look at our results over the last few years for a club with our structure in place.
We’ve only won 2 FA Youth cups (1 of those on penos) since our team of ’92. COME ON!!!
We should be winning this at least once every 4-5 years…
