Having defeated West Ham in the previous round United took on Newcastle at Moss Lane in the 5th round in the FA Youth Cup.

With a team minus strikers John Cofie and William Keane, United dominated Newcastle and will wonder how they failed to score more after coming through the 90 minutes comfortably. If you think I’m exaggerating 35 shots in 90 minutes may convince you better.

In the second half Newcastle looked a lot more lively but United were always in the ascendancy and the dominance was rewarded by Ravel Morrison’s goal and what a goal it was.

Blackett’s cross from the left was chested down in the area by Paul Pogba to Ravel Morrison who confounded the player attempting to close him down and cannoned at shot at goal that crashed off the bar and in.

Gary Neville was on hand to provide commentary and it was good to her his perspective on the game and players as it gives you a better insight into how this batch are viewed by the players at the club.

In the next round we face Liverpool who stole the headlines when they crushed Southend 9-0 with 5 of those goals coming from Raheem Stirling. With the likes of Suso, Tony Silva and Connor Coady amongst their ranks it should be an entertaining affair.
