Despite the team travelling ‘light’ Sir Alex has still put out a rather strong team as we look to ease our passage into the quarter finals.
With Ferdinand still out with a calf injury Smalling remains beside Vidic in defence whilst John O’Shea takes up the right back position. It looks like we’ll be going with a 451 with Berbatov being supported by Rooney and Nani whilst Carrick, Fletcher and Gibson occupy the midfield.
Starting XI: Van Der Sar; O’Shea,Vidic,Smalling, Evra; Fletcher, Gibson, Carrick; Nani, Rooney; Berbatov
Subs: Kuszczak, Brown, Hernandez, Scholes, Fabio, Rafael, Obertan

With Gibson in the side, I predict we lose. I seriously have no idea what he offers the side !
When fletcher used to get stick early in his United career, you could never fault him for trying.
Please Gibbo, take Trappatoni’s advice
Obviously rotation is the name of the game these days with the amount of matcheas the club has but “face palming” is the instinctive reaction when you see a side that contains Gibson and O’shea. Given our atrocious away form, expectations (especially with this personel) are extremely low.
Sorry to interupt your wake keeping lads but I’d prefer to actually see Gibbo play before I criticise. JOS has looked fine the last two times he has played and don’t be so worried about our away form – 9 wins out of last 10 European away games isn’t exactly ‘atrocious’!
