Hernandez celebrates his first aginst MarseilleIn a nervy tie a brace from Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez was enough to see us into the Champions League quarter finals despite the best efforts of Marseille.

United will be in the draw for the quarter finals for the 12th time in the competition’s history (as the Champions League) on Friday after Hernandez got onto the end of Rooney’s ball across the box in the first 5 minutes. Marseille had chances, most notably Diawara’s free header past the post but United appeared to put the tie to bed in the 75th minute when Hernandez scored a simple tap in from a Giggs cross following a lovely reverse pass from Antonio Valencia.

United had a scare on the 82nd minute though when Wes Brown headed past Edwin van der Sar setting up a tense finish but United held on to secure passage into the next round.

There are injury worries though as John O’Shea and his eventual replacement Rafael were both taken off with hamstring injuries.

we’re shit and we won again. weird how that happens. sick part of me wants Real in the quarters. might be fun! lets be honest, our team this year isnt strong enough to win the CL (but wouldn’t it be fun??)hehe. well done today. rooney has to keep this distribution up. chicho is a poacher. smalling is a star in waiting. scholes was great… fabio to start at RB vs Bolton?? who knows… lets just take number 19 this yr and life will be grand. plenty of work to do though… nice to have valencia back. also nice to see his left foot still isnt there.. nice pass though! get in MANUTD!!
