When Tony Mowbray sat down for a Q&A with Middlesborough’s Official Supporters Club he gave a very frank assesment of the task he faces on Teeside.

Funds aren’t easy to come by in his position and he has found himself in a position where he would sacrifice players in order to be able to get a certain treatment, scientist or doctor.

Looking at his situation he had time to praise Sir Alex and the set up with have at Old Trafford stating:

”When I took West Brom to Manchester United, Fergie comes looking for me for a chat, that’s what he does. He loves the game. He likes to pick the brains of the new coaches and managers, the new talent if you like. We talked for an hour or two, about this player and that player and what have you, and I find out that every member of his squad pretty much has their own individual sports scientist. That’s what they do. They have someone to look after their muscles, their coaching, their diet, their sleeping patterns. That’s a modern, successful club and that’s how it should be.”

In light of Antonio Valencia’s quicker than expected return to the first team, Mowbray’s words are especially poignant. The winger received quality treatment that ensured that he would make a full recovery from his horrific injury in September.

Whilst we have a number of players out injured and it is a huge concern in the business end of the season you can be sure that they are receiving the best treatment in order to ensure they are back and fighting fit.

SAF has built our ground from bottom up, it is not just the 11 players on the pitch it is the whole set up. As a 30 year old even though big ron was there form 81 to 86 SAF is pretty much all I have ever known as a manager! To be in that position at my age is insane when you look at the likes of Liverpool in recent times, City have a revolving door they come and go that fast!
