A brace from returning midfielder Anderson put Man City’s Elite Development Squad in the shade last week at Altrincham as Manchester United ran out 3-1 winners.
Having beaten the baby bitters last August, United repeated the act and the scoreline as Obertan joined Anderson on the scoresheet.
United took the lead on the half hour mark as Obertan lashed Petrucci’s pass into the bottom corner of the City goal but the reply was to be instant as seconds later City drew level when Abdisalam Ibrahim turned in Healey’s cross from the left.
As the second period began, Anderson was introduced and his contribution told even if it wasn’t immediate as he brought goals as well as flair to the game.
The game was entering its final stage Anderson turned it on and City wilted. His first came when he linked up with Obertan on a bustling run before finishing with his right foot then repeated this but this time putting City to the sword with his left.
The confidence was sky high at this point and the Brazilian began to show where he was from with a no look pass to Bebe that would have Ferdinand applauding his ‘silks’.
Named the Elite development squad, John Guidetti’s finish at the death was something special as he managed to sky his effort in what should have been a bread and butter chance.
