During yesterday’s parade to commemorate United’s 19th league title, David Gill confirmed that United would be in for busier than usual summer.

It was not the first time he has said this as he made the same claims at the club’s award dinners weeks ago.

Speaking to MUTV yesterday Gill stated,

“It will be a busier than usual summer this year.

“I will be going away at some point in June and be back for the start of our tour but I will be on with player stuff for the next few weeks I am sure.”

This will again be music to the ears of most United fans as many of us have increasingly called for signings since last summer and in light of Saturday’s crushing defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final the calls have grown.

Already deals for the likes of Aston Villa’s Ashley Young and Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David De Gea are being touted as done deal but considering we knew that we would have to bring in a goalkeeper the additional signing of Ashley Young (if true) hardly constitutes a claim of a ‘busier than usual summer’.

So if there are to be more signings who do you think we are looking at?

Luka Modric is a name that has been repeatedly mentioned as well as Wesley Sneijder despite him saying he plans on  being in Italy next season. Young French defender Raphael Varane is another that has been touted for a move to United with The Guardian going as far as saying the deal is completed but the fine details are still being ironed out.

Tons of names have been mentioned and to capitalise on Gill’s words will be mentioned in the coming weeks but who do you think we are looking at (realistically)?

      bale no chance absolute bollocks.

      • cont drwg says:

after saying that stekelenburg is an average goalie i think your knowledge is absolute bollocks.

u seems to b talkin like u r even better den fergie.u might b who knows on football manager.

  2. cont drwg says:

nasri too even though he is a bellend….

    • JETELINHO says:

like it or not, but he (nasri) would be a huge success at OT. I do NOT see a slice of chance in bringing him in though … besides – I somewhow feel we could be after Rodwell. Young seems a done deal & it is good so UNLESS he shall be a Nani replacement (never). On the other hand, I do NOT see a De Gea deal as done as all the player, his manager & the club have dismissed any contract – might happen but not done yet (& since there won´t be a agreement with im, we MUST look elsewhere cause GK position is a must). Regarding Varane – I have never seen him in action, so can´t say a word on him. My personal preferences would include Cavani & Dzsudzsak but can´t see any of these to come in either …

LONG LIVE UNITED! WE´LL KEEP THE RE FLAGS FLYIN´ HIGH … NO MATTER WHAT

      haha i second that

  3. carlnorth says:

Sanchez, Modric, Varane, Rodwell and bring through Paul Pogba – Simples

  4. SG says:

Blackburn’s Phil Jones looks like a good investment. Rio’s not getting any younger and Smalling isn’t in that class.

    • Chudi says:

Rubbish simply stated, Smalling has shown he is of the standard to be at the club. Id take Smalling over Jones every day of the wekk.

    • Yosh says:

I was with you till that stuff about Smalling. He might not be glam but he sure knows how to shackle a player. Tevez being one of his victims. In saying that though I would like to see Jones in our shirt, might even get Jonny Evans back into gear. With a move like it could mean the end is nigh for De Laet whom I think would be a great utility man to take over from John O’shea.

  5. sweet19forfa says:

DM- Lasanna Diarra to replace Owen Hargreaves.

CM-Schweinsteiger coz sneijder wont fit into our formation coz our both CM plays deep lyin role while sneigder is CAM.

    LM-Ashley Young.

Varane+ De gea r already on their way to Old Trafford.

  6. cont drwg says:

bollocks to both sneijder and schweinsteiger.
schweinsteiger will never happen, I don’t get why people consider him, its not for a championship manager game…
as for sneijder… is it likely to happen? its more realistic than schweinsteiger but no, i can’t see it happening.
as for all the calls for alexis sanchez, what exactly have people seen of him? hes unproven in european competitions, plays for an average italian side… let citeh waste £50m on him for him to be an ineffective signing.
smalling is 21, had 1 season and proved that he has enormous potential. if varane is coming in at centre half, why do we need another one when we have 2 world class ones and a potential world class one in smalling?

    • sweet19forfa says:

u talkin absolute bollocks mate bout schweinsteiger, sanchez+varane.have u ever seen them play, dat u r doubtin der quality.i know its difficult to get schweingsteiger bt i wud atleast give it a try, class player ran d show against united last year nd who v need to replace scholes in dat deep lyin role if dats not possible v shud go for ever banega.

as for varane again complete bollocks.the guy can play CB+DM and will b vital acqusition to cover our defensive position when brown’s,oshea+ferdinand arent gettin n e younger.

  7. anon says:

I think modric would be better for united than sneijder, but i’d love it if both came

  8. sean says:

    @carlnorth

u talking a bit of sense compare to some. young is garbage he is not better than valancia or park whiles nani is way better than him his addition wont improve the quality of our squad we need world class players right now. id rather have sanchez he has better abilities. id like rodwell to come in but thats if carrick is going out if not then lets gets derossi or diara players who can build and destroy and then modric. everyone keep talking about varne varne id like united to get him just because it said he is one off the best out there a his age (18) but the reality is he aint gonna command a place in the first team and he will behind smalling ang evens in the pecking order so he’ll probly be loaned out. and i think we should get fabio contrao

  9. jiffu says:

Let our formation look something like……

    Stekelenberg

    Rafael Varane Vidic Evra

    Nani Sneijder Modric Young

    Chicharito Rooney

    • sweet19forfa says:

      bollocks mate.

      • cont drwg says:

3 things i want you to live with and use to sort your life out
        1) you know nothing about football, nothing whatsoever.
        2) you can’t spell and type lyk u r a 12 yr old gangsta. turn your hat around and tuck your tshirt in young man.
        3) you are an idiot. which is linked to point 1 and 2.

how about some suggestions you would consider realistic and probably agree with.
lets sign… messi, xavi, iniesti, ronaldo. they’d all fit in perfectly and are exactly in the same league as the players you deem suitable for united as they seem to follow a seasonal trend of purchasing superstars every year.
        give up now kid.

  10. jiffu says:

fergie should sign south american talents… they are too fast to get marked by defenders…
