Diego Forlan is remembered fondly by United fans.

His goals against Liverpool made him into something of a cult hero but from the outside looking in he is often referred to as a flop.

Forlan found it hard to adapt to the English game and it took him 27 games before he found the net yet despite this there are few United fans that will talk negatively about him.

Having left United he has endured success at both club level with Villareal and Atletico Madrid as well as international plaudits following his role in Uruguay’s run in last summer’s World Cup.

United fans are always happy to celebrate his success because of his spell at United and this video encapsulates it:

You forget how many good goals he scored….seems a bit odd to have let him go in the end…two footed and could score with his head….strange though how we all took to him…

He came from Uruguay and made the scousers cry!!! Class!!
