A United select XI took on Marseille last night in Monaco in aid of former Marseille goalkeeper, Pascal Olmeta’s children’s charity.

(Olmeta was a most entertaining/interesting man as seen here)

The United XI included players like Park, Jones, Welbeck, Cleverley, Evra and Smalling and saw a substitute appearance from Paul Pogba.

There were also cameos from former United keeper Fabien Barthez as well as former Spurs and Newcastle man, David Ginola.

Not an ideal scoreline but the game was obviously played in the spirit of the occasion and the lack of familiarity in United’s team clearly didn’t help. Good to see Pogba get a run out and even better to see Welbeck and Cleverley keep up what has been impressive pre seasons for both.
