As with the Everton game we will mark this one down as points over performance.

United took on Otelul Galati at Old Trafford in the Champions League and like the game a fortnight ago we did what we had to do to get by without impressing.

The performance was stale but Tony Valencia’s tap in and a deflected effort from Rooney saw United go level on points with Benfica at the top of the table.

Rooney put in a decent shift in his cameo as a central midfielder, he stalked the pitch trying to influence the game and his passing was quite impressive as we knew it would be but still we didn’t quite click.

It wasn’t as if Otelul played well, apart from spells of pressure they put up the fight a smaller team visiting Old Trafford is expected to but our problems were mainly of our own doing. Ball retention was poor as we misplaced passes giving away possession and at time we were wasteful in front of goal.

Phil Jones was impressive down the right , De Gea was solid in goal and Rooney shone in the middle but there are few positives to take from the game except the 3 points.

It puts us in a good position to qualify for the next stage with favourable football betting odds and right now that’s the objective.

Wasteful in possession. I hope to God Cleverly returns asap. That midfield (minus Rooney) is looking really pedestrian.

I’m not knocking SAF, but he can’t miss the fact that we lack in the middle of the park and have done for some time. Cleverley has been excellent but we need more, much more. How many seasons will we let pass, saying that Anderson needs to improve ?

yeah pissed off with anderson this is his chance but hes not controlling games like we all know he can when he does his passing is a joy to watch just wish he done it every week like rooney does
