Considering the fact that many deemed the title race over in October following Man City’s 6-1 demolition of United at Old Trafford, the fact United now lead City by 8 points is something.

Whilst everyone else was fawning over Mancini’s men, United continued grafting, working hard to close the gap on Man City, and with the title race in it’s final stages they have overtaken their rivals but it hasn’t been easy.

Changes in personell, injuries and Man City’s financial clout have made this one of the more intense title races for United fans, so the fact that we are likely to come out on top makes it all the more satisfying, a sentiment echoed by Ryan Giggs.

Speaking in United Review, the veteran spoke on how exhilarating it would be to pick up a 13th league title:

“It would be huge.

“When you look at the spending power Manchester City have, the injuries we’ve had, the experience we’ve lost – Scholesy for half the season, Edwin van der Sar, John O’Shea, Wes Brown.

“Then the challenge we faced bringing in a new goalkeeper – David de Gea came in for a lot of criticism early on but he’s worked hard and he’s showing terrific form at a key time – and the young talent we’ve blooded in, it would be a massive achievement.”

One response to “Giggs looks to United’s ‘massive achievement’”
