With Benfica interested in taking Fabio on loan, it is being reported that Manchester United are looking at FC Copenhagen defender Bryan Oviedo.

The Daily Mail are reporting that he 22 year old Costa Rican international will be a free agent next summer, so United are looking to swoop now to secure his signature as cover for Patrice Evra.

Evra rarely misses a game for United, as has been the case since he signed for us but with Fabio gone for the season, it appears United won’t be taking any risks.

United have continually been linked with Oviedo with the left back making 13 appearances this season and creating 4 goals in the process.

Perhaps a bit obscure but a decent understudy to Evra nonetheless, one of the best fullbacks at the u20s in 2009 and put in a hell of a performance in against Neymar and Brazil back in October, worth a shot for such a low transfer fee.

I could see us going out and getting a left back, but honestly I would expect Zeki Fryers to be pushed into signing a new contract and then into the first team. Ferguson is always an advocate of youth and Fryers has been highly rated for a while and looks more comfortable at left back than Fabio.

I hope Fryers signs a new contract and joins the first team squad next season because he is a talent. He played some games this season and looks good. Evra does hardly miss any matches but he is getting older and will need to be rested a bit more now. Fryers will get more games next season in the Carling Cup, FA Cup and possibly in the CL as well.
