Having visited South Africa and China, Manchester United will embark on the European leg of their pre season tour starting tomorrow in Norway.

United have announced a 21 man squad that will look to reach peak levels of fitness by facing Valerenga tomorrow afternoon then Barcelona in Gothenburg on August 8th before bringing the tour to an end against Hannover 96 on the 11th.

Whilst the first leg of the tour saw a number of youth players included in the squad, it appears business has picked up with the return of those who had been at the Euros and the Olympics as well as the inclusion of captain Nemanja Vidic.

Interestingly Michael Keane has also been included in the travelling party, perhaps showing the high esteem in which he is held by the club.

The likes of Smalling and Evans miss out through injury whilst Giggs, Cleverley and Rafael remain at the Olympics so miss out too.

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Lindegaard.

Defenders: Evra, Ferdinand, Jones, M Keane, Vidic.

Midfielders: Anderson, Carrick, Nani, Powell, Lingard, Scholes, Valencia, Young, Kagawa.

Forwards: Berbatov, Hernandez, Macheda, Rooney, Welbeck.

a shame Bebe hasnt made the cut and thought Keane is good, i think our lack of fit defenders at the moment has played a part.

Most notable absentee for me is Bebe. Does that spell the end for the troubled “star”? I hoped he would make it, especially after his positive performance during the recent tour of Asia. let’s hope that Berbatov impresses enough to attract a good offer for 1st team football to prevent further bench-warming for the coming season.

  3. Giggs(Legend) says:

Glad to see Vida back, seems 2 me we only have 1 left back on tour, we really need 2 sign a left back coz if Evra gets injured then we in trouble.
    Hate Liverpool & Man City ! ! ! ! ! !

i know ye bebe is better than everyone thinks, hes got a hell of a shot on him and cross and vison,he is a goal machine if he was given time to play 10 to 20 games a season,id say if berbatov goes soon let him get his chance on wing or upfront hes very young as he time to get better but what we all seen from tour he made a big difference coming on he is a 1st time player just cause we have likes scholes and giggs here still hes sat on bench or reserves which is shame of a talent to be there

Bebe played against Scunthorpe last night as did Powell. I wouldn’t read too much into the absences.

Keane is in probably due to lack of defensive cover but it speaks volumes because there are other defenders that could have been picked

It’s great to see Vidic back in the squad. Hopefully he has a successful return and is ready for Everton on the 20th August. We need him back because he is the captain and a warrior. If he was fit last season we would have won the league, but then again we suffered the worse injury crisis anyone has ever seen, so it wasn’t just him.

We are lacking defenders and I think that is why Keane has been drafted in. He is a talented kid and he will go out on loan this season. It does show that we need to sign a new full back to give us more strength. Robbie Brady has not been taken which suggest the experiment of him at left back is over. I would put forward Neil Taylor of Swansea as a good option to strengthen the full back positions.

I thought Bebe would have been on the tour as well, but it suggest to me that he is definitely going out on loan this season. I think a few player are going to be sent on loan. It’s good to see Lingard in the squad, although I thought he would have been joined by Tunncliffe. I expect both Lingard and Tunncliffe to be loaned out.

We really need to get a move on and sign 3 new players this week because its starting to drag on badly. It’s been slow for everyone but the other teams are starting to get deals done, except for us. Arsenal are closing in on Carzola and Sahin, Chelsea have secured Oscar. We need to get a move on and sign new players sooner rather than later.

A new full back must be signed and then once Rafeal returns, and Evans and Smalling recover from injury, we will be healthier and have options. Again I mention Neil Taylor because he is young and has shown he can play right back, as he has for Team GB. Talyor’s main position is at left back and he would challenge Evra well I think.

A more robust midfielder would be good as well. A player who can get around the field and intercept the opposition football. In terms of central midfielder’s we have a few. Tom Cleverley is going to be key next season, alongside Carrick. We have Anderson who will be given one more season to finally show his true quality. We also have Nick Powell who I think will be a very good player. Add to them the experience of Scholes and Giggs. We just lack someone like Fletcher. Victor Wanyama might be a good option because of his young age and price tag.
