The agent of Lucas Moura has revealed that Manchester United were in the driving seat to sign his client until, PSG’s Sporting Director and Brazilian legend Leonardo interceded.

Sir Alex was keen to bring Moura to Old Trafford and publicly declared so but last night PSG confirmed they had secured his signature on a 4 year deal.

Speaking on the transfer last night, which reportedly cost PSG a total of €100m, Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that he was amazed at the money involved in the deal to take the Olympian to Paris.

But Wagner Ribeiro has told UOL that had it not been for the intervention of Leonardo moura would have become a Manchester United player:

“Everything was agreed between São Paulo and Manchester United.

“The contract had been written and just needed to be signed. But then Leonardo [PSG Sporting Director] called me and asked to talk to Lucas.

“They talked. Leonardo was helped by the fact he is Brazilian. He was very gentle with Lucas.

“The possibility of living in Paris – a much more pleasant city than Manchester – also influenced his decision. But it was PSG’s project that impressed Lucas.”

PSG will not even win Ligue 1 title, they’ll go trophyless this year and when the UEFA Financial Fair comes into play they’ll be cutting their $$$ foreign players.

Why 35-40 million for Lucas Moura? Could some fraction of that have gone to try to persuade Pogba (+agent) to stay?

I’m not sure about about splashing 25million on RvP either. Any two of three between Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez is fine, with Kagawa or Cleverley playing just off a single striker if the need/tactics required it. RvP would overload attacking options, might result in less playing time for Welbeck and Hernandez thereby hindering their development. Midfield is clearly where we need to buy.

If we’re going for the 25-30 million range, lets test Ajax’s resolve over C. Eriksen. Tunnicliffe has always impressed me, let’s give him games this season.

Yes it was money. Agreed to a deal and then took a offer for more money. A bit obscene already but hey i just can’t see how they intend to make it past FFS rules. But then again they are a french team and Platini only mouths off if it has soemthing to do with the English. LEts see how they circumnavigate the rules with their outlay. Good luck PSG. But u may not need it.

So he decided a better city but lost a better team,a better league, and a better football reputation which could come through him
I doubt he was a footballer or a tourist!!!!

It was the money the Qataris have thrown that has turned the boys head plain and simple.

God knows how PSG will pass the FFP and I truly hope Platini sticks to his guns and bans PSG from European competiion.

If van Persie comes it’ll be for champs league and Rooney will be able to drop back and be given a free roaming role, makes sense really!
