Wayne Rooney enjoyed his second run out as England captain, scoring 2 as England brushed aside San Marino.

It was an all United affair on the night as one of Sir Alex’s men created or scored all 5 of England’s goals. Danny Welbeck was brought down as Rooney converted a penalty for England’s opener then Welbeck found the net himself, repeating his Euro 2012 goal against Sweden, back heeling in England’s second.

The third would come in the 70th minute as Rooney fired in his second from outside the box and minutes later Welbeck would get his brace, poking in from close range after Cleverley provided from the right.

England’s 5th came courtesy of Oxlade Chamberlain when he curled in an effort after Welbeck and Cleverley’s exchanged passes in the box.

You won’t learn anything from hammering San Marino but it was good to see England’s United contingent playing well, especially Welbeck who was named man of the match. After a few goal less appearances, the two he scored tonight should provide a confidence boost for the 21 year old.
