After goin 1 nil down to a Wayne Rooney own goal, Manchester United bounced back in style to beat Stoke 4-2 at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck opened their accounts for the season whilst RVP grabbed his 9th goal of the season to close the gap on Chelsea at the top of the league as the West London club were 7 points clear having beaten Spurs earlier in the day.

Rooney turned in a Charlie Adam freekick under pressure from Ryan Shawcross after11 minutes, but made amends heading in a Robin Van Persie cross from the left around the half hour mark.

Van Persie made it 2 -1 with a sublime finish from an Antonio Valencia cross.

Immediately after the break Danny Welbeck grabbed United’s 3rd, a diving header from a Rooney cross but Stoke found a way back into the game after Kightly found the back of the net but Rooney put the game to bed in the 65th minute, scoring his 200th club goal when the ball dropped to him after some goal mouth calamity.
