Sir Alex Ferguson has distanced Manchester United from a move for Porto attacker James Rodriguez, fearing he will simply cost too much.
The Columbian continues to be linked with Manchester United and a new link has sprung up, with some claiming he will be brought in as a replacement for Nani.
Having confessed a liking for Manchester United and drawn comparisons with United great Cristiano Ronaldo, it is easy to create speculation about a move but with Porto commanding big fees for their stars, selling Hulk to Zenit St Petersburg for a whopping £40m this summer and bring in a further £35m for Falcao the summer berfore, Sir Alex has poured scorn on the idea of bring Rodriguez in:
“As far as James Rodriguez is concerned, I hope it’s not true because it costs a fortune to get a player from Porto!”
