David De Gea has quashed rumours that he is homesick and is looking for a return to Spain.

The Spanish keeper has had to share goalkeeping duties with Anders Lindegaard and it had been reported that the 21 year old was losing patience with his role on the bench.

De Gea has now started 5 of United’s last 6  games and has quickly moved to dispel the notion that he could be on his way to Madrid as an eventual replacement for Iker Casillas.

Speaking ahead of United’s tie against Chelsea, De Gea reaffirmed that he was happy at Old Trafford:

“I am happy at United and not thinking about a return to Spain.

“I’ve accepted the challenge to learn and improve as a professional.

“And fighting for my place gives me a bigger incentive to play well.”
