Speaking to Four Four Two, Veron expressed his regret at leaving when he did, claiming he had been hasty and discussed the impact it had on his family, claiming his wife left Manchester in tears:

“Looking back, I didn’t make the right choice.

“I should have stayed in Manchester for many reasons.

“My wife left Manchester in tears. We were used to moving to new cities and I’d never seen her crying because of a move.”
