Brazilian star Ronaldinho has praised Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes ahead of Brazil’s friendly with England this week.
Ronaldinho could have became team mates with the pair, but instead ended up at Barcelona whilst we signed Cristiano Ronaldo. In his spell in Spain he would go on to become the best player in the world, wowing crowds with moments of brilliance that will long live in memory.
There was a dip in form that saw him head to AC Milan before going back to Brazil, but aged 32 he is undergoing a mini revival that has seen him return to the Brazil squad with some even claiming he has an outside shot at going to next year’s World Cup.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s friendly the Atletico Mineiro star spoke of his admiration for Rooney, a player he told the Daily Mail could get into any side in the world along with Paul Scholes:
“Rooney is a player I like.
“There is not a national squad in the world he would not improve. Ashley Cole is a fantastic defender also, I have seen him keep the best players in the world quiet.
“There are so many good English players, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole, Wayne Rooney, all players who, at their peak, would have got into any team in the world.”
