The fable goes that 10 years ago after facing an explosive spotty teenager called Cristiano Ronaldo, the superstars of Manchester United implored their manager to sign him up. 

Sir Alex made the move and that teenager grew up to become one of the best players in the world, winning numerous league titles in Manchester as well as the European Cup and the Balon d’Or in a season where he scored an astonishing 42 goals.

Of course Sir Alex already knew about Ronaldo and had plans to make him a Manchester United player, but the initial story is a lot more romantic!
