Saleh Gomaa vs Japan Olympics

Manchester United have been watching Egyptian midfielder Saleh Gomaa and have gone as far as offering him a trial according to the player.

Gomaa was a stand out in Egypt’s African u20 championship winning team, being named player of the tournament and is highly regarded in his country.

Likened to Xabi Alonso, the 19 year old told FilGoal.Com he was offered a trial with United following his performances in Algeria:

“I have been followed by a number of scouts including two from Granada and Manchester United. The Manchester United scout inquired about the possibility of having a trial with the club and he also asked me about ENPPI’s readiness for a potential transfer.”

Having turned out for Egypt in last summer’s Olympic games, he went on to earn full honours for the Pharaohs and is expected to leave ENPPI this summer, and ENPPI won’t stand in his way as confirmed by chairman Mohamed Badr:

“We welcome the notion of letting youngsters move abroad.

“We received some inquiries regarding Saleh and Ahmed Refaat through intermediate companies, but we only deal with official bids from other clubs.

“Up until now there has been nothing of an official bid either for Saleh or Refaat.”
