Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester United will not be deterred in their chase for Cesc Fabregas, and have returned with an improved offer for the midfielder.
David Moyes confirmed that Manchester United were chasing Fabregas in a press conference during the week, prompting Barcelona vice president Josep Maria Bartomeu to declare Fabregas ‘non transferable’ and state that the Catalan club would not entertain any offers.
But United have upped the ante and according to Sky Sports returned with a £30m bid including add ons in an attempt to prize Cesc away from his home club. The add ons are thought to bring the fee close to the £35m figure that Barcelona are thought to want before considering a deal.
United seem intent on getting the former Arsenal captain and if reports earlier in the week are to be believed, Barcelona may soon find themselves in a position that United’s interest is too good to turn down and will have to start doing business with Moyes.

Cesc Fabregas would be a stunning signing by Moyes and Man Utd. I’m not sure we could find a more perfect replacement for Paul Scholes in the midfielder for our team. The guy is experienced in England, top class and only 26 years old. I don’t want to get to excited, but it would be a great signing if it could happen.
I know we have been linked with Gareth Bale and he is a terrific footballer as well. However as much as I would be willing to spend £60 million on him, I cannot see Spurs selling him to us. Bale would need to do the hard work and request a transfer specifically for Man Utd. I cannot see Bale doing that, and also it might not make a difference, as Spurs showed with Modric when he wanted to join Chelsea.
If we have a good amount to spend on players this summer then we should target Erik Lamela instead from AS Roma. I know they just sold their Brazilian defender to PSG for big money, but it shows that every player has a price. Bale is talked about as £60-65 million, but we should maybe look at offering £30-35 million for Lamela .
It seems obvious that Rooney wants to leave Man Utd know, even if he is using a lame way of going about it. We are better of selling him, even to Chelsea. However we can actually learn from Spurs here and how they handled the Modric deal. Chelsea kept having their offer rejected and they eventually went to £40 million, a price we should be selling at. Chelsea will say they will not pay that, but Jose already said he is their only target and clearly they have already spoken to Rooney. Eventually they will have to pay that much.
We shouldn’t be afraid to sell Rooney to Chelsea. It could backfire and he could fire them to the title. However, if we are honest, we know Rooney is on the slide and will not be as effective as RVP was the us last season. Rooney is injury prone now and always looks heavy in body. Also he isn’t really a number 9 striker and will not be as effective playing with three number 10 behind him. He gets frustrated at the best of times and doesn’t have the discipline to stay up top without dropping back looking for the ball, a number 10 job.
We sell Rooney and move on, although to do that we need to make strong signings ourselves. Hopefully Fabregas can be the start and the marquee signing for us this summer, but I would love us to add Erik Lamela and Geoffrey Kondogbia to our ranks as well. Kondogbia is a young midfielder and would add some physical presence and aggression to the middle. The lad is 20 and would be a long-term replacement for Carrick. We should also make a £15 million offer for Leighton Baines and hope to sign him.
