Fellaini vs Norwich

This morning we reported on United’s failed £28m bid to sign Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, a move that is said to have angered Everton who considered the double bid offensively off the mark.

Here is a photo of the letter that Everton’s Deputy Chairman John Woods is said to have sent to Ed Woodward in response to the bid, clearly outlining the Merseyside club’s stance:

It’s authenticity is yet to be confirmed but if real, Everton do not expect United to return with further bids for the player.

I suppose i’m just a glutton for punishment Paul, and enjoy extreme banter! I would like to see somebody like Marchisio or Vidal come to United. Schweini, either of the Bender brothers or maybe Luis Gustavo before he moved. I think if we got a top class DM then we are set, its the last piece of the jigsaw. People think United are way behind Chelsea and City, but I dont think so. We lost the league on goal difference, in the last minute of a season in which we had a defensive crisis which has never been seen before nor will again, to a City team that everyone said was streets ahead of us. If we can get that DM and keep Rooney (my views on him would take too long to explain, but we need him this season) then I think we can do it. The manager is new but the players have seen and done it before many times. Also I think Chelsea are not going to be as hard to beat as in Jose’s first stint, City will be the big challangers as their squad is pretty much top notch. I think RVP will be top scorer and Rooney will pull his head out of his arse and knuckle down as the world cup is coming up, so I think we will challange all the way.
As for the youngsters, I dont expect much first team action for them apart from the obligatory league cup games. Its likely a few will go on loan. I have seen young players impress in pre-season and then move on soon after too many times to have faith in them being integrated this season. But Moyes has a rep for blooding youngsters so I could be wrong.
