Using pictures, songs and the hashtag #FreeShinji Dortmund fans have been trying to persuade the Japanese playmaker to return to his former club.
Kagawa has played just 7 minutes for United this season, a cameo in the Community Shield against Wigan understandably because he saw his pre season preparation disrupted due to being on international duty with Japan at the Confederation Cup in Brazil.
As well as Dortmund, Atletico Madrid are said to be sniffing around Kagawa but his representative Thomas Kroth moved to quickly quash any notion that his client could leave Old Trafford.
Speaking to Kicker, Kroth reaffirmed Kagawa’s desire to stay with United:
“Atletico had the information that a loan move is possible. But that’s not true. There’s nothing to it. Shinji wants to stay in Manchester.”
