Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta has confirmed that he intends to sign a new deal with the Catalan club, pouring cold water on rumours that Manchester United could sign the midfield wizard.
A number of publications have claimed that the player and Barcelona are struggling to agree terms on a new deal for the 29 year old, opening the door for both Manchester United and Man City to attempt to prise him away from the Nou Camp.
But Iniesta has moved to reassure fans that he hopes to end his career with the Spanish champions, and confirmed that there is no conflict between himself and the club.
Marca have quoted Iniesta as saying:
“My wish is to finish here, and it’s the club’s as well. There is no complication.
“This is the best place where I can be. I’m 29, I know that I still have a few years of good football in me, and I want to live them here.
“It’s not about money, it’s about the wishes that I have. It’s not a Barça – Iniesta war.”
