william carvalhoDavid Moyes may be forced to wait for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, after Sporting’s president Bruno de Carvalho revealed there would be no departures in January.

United have been heavily linked with Carvalho, with scouts watching him weekly as his profile continues to rise. With a €45m buyout clause, United are reluctant to make a move but A Bola have more recently claimed a bid in the €15m region should be enough to secure his signature, albeit next summer.

The 21 year old is central to a Sporting team that lead the league in Portugal, and De Carvalho is reluctant to split up a team with title winning aspirations.

De Carvalho told A Bola:

“The club has decided that there will be no sales in January.

“The club is leading the division for the first time in nine years and we are determined to fight for the title.

“Only if a ridiculous offer is put in for a player will it be studied.”

Moyes is in the market for new players, and with scouts watching Carvalho he could be an option but is unlikely to make the ‘ridiculous’ offer that De Carvalho is seeking.
