Charni Ekangamene

U21 midfielder Charni Ekangamene was handed the number 43 shirt and included in yesterday’s match squad versus Aston Villa, but what exactly does it mean for the 19 year old?

With Stoke coming up in the league cup, Ekangamene could be the latest youngster given a chance by Moyes, especially with United lacking in the central midfield area.

But it’s likely that Ekangamene is simply being promoted as a precaution, and despite the paucity of quality in midfield will only be drafted in in an emergency scenario.

Consistent if unspectacular, Ekangamene can take heart from the fact that his hard work in the engineroom of Warren Joyce’s u21 side isn’t going unnoticed as it is easy to overlook the job he does whilst others around him steal the headlines.
