Rakitic is the latest in a long line of midfielders linked with a move to . The Croatian recently voiced his frustration at a lack of success at the Andalusian club.

The club skipper’s outburst lead many to believe that he could force his way out of the club but Sevilla have slapped a huge fee on the 25 year old to ward off interest from a number of clubs.

Speaking at a Sevilla supporters club meeting new president Jose Castro told fans:

“Ivan Rakitic has a year and a half of his contract remaining. I have absolutely no doubts that we’re going to reach an agreement with him.

“If anyone else is in a rush to have Rakitic, his clause is €40m (£33m) and we’ll leave it at that.”

Sevilla’s recent financial problems that saw them sell Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo to as well as to have been alleviated meaning they are under no duress to sell the midfielder.

With a year and a half left of his contract to go, they will not need to worry about being forced to sell this January when Moyes will be looking to bring in new faces.
