Whilst a move for Chelsea’s Juan Mata edges closer, Manchester United aren’t only focusing on the Spaniard according to reports.

Manchester United have been shocked into action following Sunday’s defeat at Stamford Bridge and if they are willing to pay Chelsea’s asking price of £40m, it is believed Chelsea will let Mata head to Old Trafford.

Although the move, similar to Belgian youngster Kevin De Bruyne’s to Wolfsburg, hinges on Mata telling the club he wants to leave, his position at Stamford Bridge makes it very possible that the 25 year old will do so.

United are said to have representatives in London in an attempt to thrash out a deal, with some claiming that it could be completed by the weekend but Mata isn’t the only player on United’s radar.

ESPN’s Miguel Delaney reports that United’s representatives are also working on a deal for a “European-based central midfielder” believed to be Juventus’ Arturo Vidal.

Delaney claims that whilst this deal isn’t anywhere near as advanced at the Mata deal, he notes that initial reports were ‘encouraging’ for United.

The 26 year old is a name that has been heavily linked with United in recent weeks, with David Moyes even heading to Italy to watch as Vidal played in Juventus’ 4-1 win over Cagliari. Vidal signed a new deal at the end of 2013, so with his current deal expiring in 2017 United will have to pay a big fee for Vidal but Delaney notes that United being able to improve Vidal’s wages significantly as well as the fact that “Juve are maintaining a comparatively prudent approach to transfers” gives the English champions a significant chance at signing the Chilean midfielder.

If mata cost us more than 40 million then forget him. Don’t wast e the money. Put it on m.reus, cabaye or everton barkley, vidal and many more.

  7. ak says:

The is dortmund player gundegon something like that try to buy him and one thing i want to say if we brough cabaye then he will be the new captain.

  8. akash says:

News coming that moyes want to bring cavani to old trafford a striker seriously i hope its rumors becoz we don’t need striker. If we got good central midfielder then our striker will score goal and on top moyes isn’t using kagawa talent well. He is the key to our striker to score goal.

  9. JOHN FRANK says:

VIDAL WILL BE A GREAT SIGNING,CAVANI NEEDS TO COME IN AT THE END OF THE SEASON IF ROONEY LEAVES, WE ALSO NEED GUNDOGAN OR MARCO REUS AND A VERY GOOD WINGER TOO,SINCE IT IS LOOKING LIKELY THAT NANI IS LEAVING,ZAHA MIGHT ALSO GO ON LOAN. WE NEED ACENTRE BACK BUT NOT DANTE,HE IS ALREADY AGEING. I SUGGEST EZEQUIEL GARAY.

We already have kagawa both play the same position we dont have space for him so wheres the space going to come from to fit mata in 40 million what a joke. Were gonna sell rooney for 20 million in the summer I guarantee and waste 40 million on players that wont fit in our team. Its sad to say its become a joke weve been told players are only available in summer…… sow what happened last summer why didnt we sign anyone? The dogs in the street know weve need decent midfielders for years. Your running out of excuses moyes.
