could secure the signature of Sporting Lisbon’s , after it was revealed that the Portuguese club have been making moves to sign the 21 year old’s replacement.

Moyes has watched Carvalho a number of times, wanting to be certain of the Portuguese international’s talent before departing with the £37.5m required to activate his release clause.

But Sporting have already begun to seek replacements for the much sought after midfielder, with The Mirror claiming that  Sporting are lining up a £400k move for Estoril’s 27 year old Goncalo Santos.

The Mirror also claim that aren’t willing to pay the near £40m fee to Sporting, despite Carvalho having 4 years left on his contract. But with other clubs thought to be interested in the defensive midfielder, Moyes may be forced to pay above his valuation.
