Manchester United could secure the signature of Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, after it was revealed that the Portuguese club have been making moves to sign the 21 year old’s replacement.

Moyes has watched Carvalho a number of times, wanting to be certain of the Portuguese international’s talent before departing with the £37.5m required to activate his release clause.

But Sporting have already begun to seek replacements for the much sought after midfielder, with The Mirror claiming that  Sporting are lining up a £400k move for Estoril’s 27 year old Goncalo Santos.

The Mirror also claim that United aren’t willing to pay the near £40m fee to Sporting, despite Carvalho having 4 years left on his contract. But with other clubs thought to be interested in the defensive midfielder, Moyes may be forced to pay above his valuation.
