Manchester United could be set for another summer of frustration, after The Sunday Times reported that Southampton rejected the club’s £27m bid for teenage left back Luke Shaw.

Shaw is believed to have told Southampton bosses that he wants to leave for Old Trafford on the final day of the season, oblivious to the news that United made their move for the England international just hours before.

Many news outlets claimed that Southampton were holding up the deal, hoping to have a new manager in place before making any decision. But The Times claim United are no closer to signing Shaw after rumours that the two sides had agreed a deal were false.

United had hoped to complete a deal prior to the World Cup, but will now have to make do with any potential deal being completed after the tournament. This leaves United in a dangerous position as a number of other clubs are thought to be interested in Shaw too.

Leave shaw and go for daley blind.he is better and cheaper.

  2. ChrisW says:

Shaw is another Moyes choice, so I don’t expect van Gaal will waste too much time going after him if it becomes difficult. I agree Blind looks great and might be cheaper.

  3. ryno says:

Shaw hardly feature in the world cup… I’ll rather make a 15million bid for Blind and double his wages. More experienced and more versatile. Shaw not worth spending 8million a year.

  4. Kelvyne Mwangi says:

Shaw is a fantastic player but still there are so many options out there. We have to be carefull because this deal can turn out to be a repeat of the unfruitful last season.

  5. Abubakar BAUCHI. says:

Go for BLIND, a proven one, cheaper and much easier to be sign.

Have watched blind play but got an opportunity to asses his worth dutch vs spain.
the lad is far beta over shaw, his 4wad movements, passing range was credibls. he can play too as a mdflder, he is cheaper than shaw. pls, what lvg waiting, wrap up the deal, include even 7 nethelands players to ua signings..

WTG Saints. All this media gossip if true has shown me one thing. You can’t trust many of these players to stand by their words. A few months ago Shaw publicly came out and said. He wasn’t leaving Saint. Goes to prove it was all rubbish.

Instead of wasting money. Deploy anderson in that position who started his career in that position. He is strong with wonderful left foot.

  9. Akash says:

A.sanchez united should bring to old trafford and shaw send two player or on player there like anderson, cleversly,a.young

Hopefully we target someone else and leave greedy Southampton with an unhappy unsettled player then

You missed a bit out .you meant to say greedy MEGARICH Southampton. Obviously greedy Liverpool really struggled last season having the really unsettled Suarez still on their books. And so did Everton with Leighton Baines. Seems like the only unsettled player who isn’t producing is fat boy Rooney (£300 k per week, you’ve really gotta be mugs to pay that). Wake up. You are now an ordinary side full of ageing players and a few younger ones who aren’t good enough. (Wellbeck, Cleverley etc). Get used to mediocrity. The days of Saints being pushed around are well and truly over.

    • Stephen Newbury says:

What’s up, Utd not getting their own way? You just don’t get it do you? Saints neither need or want to selll Shaw, or any other player for that matter. We hold all the cards as he’s contracted to us for 4 years! I agree he’s not worth £27 million (yet) but that really is irrelevant – WE DO NOT NEED TO SELL. Is this getting through?
