Manchester United new signee, Memphis Depay, flew to England for the first time since agreeing to a £25m deal with the Red Devils.
Depay, who was in London for an Under Armour boot launch, claimed that he can be among the greatest players in the world at Old Trafford.
While speaking at the event, he said, “I believe I can be one of the best players in the world. That’s why I have my ‘Dreamchaser’ tattoo on my chest. I don’t have a secret. You have to work on your dreams everyday that’s what I’m doing.”
The attacker said that he hopes to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps while playing for United. The Dutch international spoke highly of the Real Madrid star and believes he can develop into that caliber of a footballer if he works hard enough.
Depay was also quick to praise United boss, Louis Van Gaal. Depay and Van Gaal have worked well together in the past.
Van Gaal was Depay’s manager on the Netherlands squad that reached the semi-finals in last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
The two formed a tight bond and Van Gaal encouraged Depay to “stay hungry” after the World Cup.
The pair will now be working together in the Premier League.
Depay has immeasurable talent and the signing is a big benefit to United heading into next year.
