Sir Alex Ferguson has spoken on the Wayne Rooney situation confirming that according to the player’s agent he does indeed want to leave the club.

Having stated that Rooney will not play tomorrow against Bursaspor due to his ‘ankle injury’ Sir Alex went on to discuss the whole situation basically stating:

Wayne was injured. He said it in interviews. We sent him for a scan but there was no doubt that though he could train, he was injured.

It was disappointing that Wayne said he was not injured. I was trying to protect him. Respected him. Didn’t want to humiliate him. I gave him a complete break so he could play for England and get his form back. That was my intention. Try to galvanise him.

We have not had an argument. You have to understand the mechanics of these situations when players want to leave a club. It’s easy in these situations to blame the manager.

The contract negotiations were to take place after the WC. David got a call from the agent. He and SAF were “dumbfounded”.

I don’t know what’s happened to change the boy’s mind. We were shocked.

How to deal with this was crucial. I had a meeting with the boy. He reiterated what his agent said. He wants to go.

I told Wayne I want only one thing from you – to respect the club. I demand that.

He hasn’t respected the club. We’ve always been there as a harbour for him, whenever he’s been in trouble, we’ve always been there.

We base our history on relationships between club and players, since Sir Matt’s days. Wayne has been a beneficiary of that philosophy.

There’s been no falling out. I need to clarity the situation and try to make it right. Wayne’s people are not prepared to listen to an offer. I’m very disappointed. I can’t believe it. When you manage United, there’s always things you need to deal with.

It’s not as easy as years ago when players trusted and depended on the managers they worked for, and we had more contact with parents, Edwin said the first call he got about his error was from his father. I told him, that’s who you should listen to, your father.

I ask the fans to trust Manchester United

Remember our history, the admiration, the recognition we get around the world, the players we produce for England. Fantastic history.

We have glitches at times. We lost the league by a point last season, for 4th record time. We will get back our supremacy. We will get back to the top again, but there are disappointments along the way and we must deal with them.

We were prepared to offer Wayne the best deal in the country. We started negotiations two years before the end of the contract, at the behest of the player himself who said he wanted to stay. David was prepared to discuss with the owners to offer Wayne the best contract in the country.

Sell Him, Sir Alex Ferguson, sell him. Is he so indispensable? Is Rooney anywhere near so many other fantastic players in England today. He cannot even shoot a ball straight or pass the ball accurately nowadays. Good riddance to him. The best player in England? Ha … ha … ha!

This is very disappointing, but what is clear at this stage is he’s very unlikely to recapture his form with his mind in a state like this.
It comes down to his personal life, and that he does have some attitude but generally things have gone well in his time here. But now they aren’t going well and now his infamous anger is being misdirected to the club.
I’m surprised they gave full disclosure and you’d think it would weaken their hand in negotiations. But if it’s no secret I guess you might as well come out with it.
United fans are a class apart and will still tribute players who’ve even left under bad circumstances. But if he simply goes to another EPL team (i.e. City or Chelsea) than he’ll like wipe away his legacy.
January is still away’s away, and I have no idea what he’ll be doing up until then.

“I DON’T KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENED TO CHANGE THE BOY’S MIND.” – Ask Paul fucking Stretford. He surely knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, we once had nightmares this day would come… here it is now, the club will deal with it. Hopefully the other players will see it as a betrayal and unify in a new spirit that will transcend our current lack of efficiency.
Hopefully this will piss the hell out of the hardest mancunians and be seen as an incapacity of the owners to keep our best players.
Hopefully this will renew the comitment to the green and gold movement.
Hopefully this is the begining of a new era.

Xyth i remember reading a article about the new contract situation in January and it was Stretford. He said oh its healthy to have interest from other clubs. And you know why he said that the bastard. He is a crook and would do anything for money.

This incident now shows how respectful ronaldo was to the club and the manager..
