Marek Hamsik is the Football Manager fanboy’s dream.

Go on any football forum and you’ll at least find a thread dedicated to the Slovakian midfielder. With his ability to score goals from midfield Hamsik has built up a reputation in Europe and rightly so. So should we be celebrating that it appears that he has his sights set on Old Trafford as the next place to ply his trade?

Speaking after Napoli’s game with his old club Brescia, Hamsik apparently said:

“Although there’s been no concrete interest, I’m flattered by being linked with Manchester United.”

Sir Alex did state that he would not be spending money in January and Hamsik, having played for Napoli in the Europa League already, would be ineligible for the Champions League but if he is openly declaring this why not make a move?

No smoke without fire I say and definitely worth a look.

As he’s only played in the europa league he would be champions league eligible. Interesting! Quality player and a top all round midfielder!

      Just noticed that myself!

Didn’t Pedro Mendes play for Rangers (CL) and Sporting(Europa League) last season?

I’ve only seen him in the WC, but that was no small introduction to the player. I haven’t formed much of an opinion of him yet, but i’d be interesting to know a bit more about him and his playing characteristics.
