As well as being possibly the greatest manager ever, Sir Alex Ferguson had a pretty decent playing career.

The first player to score a hat trick against Rangers at Ibrox whilst playing for St Johnstone in 1963, Sir Alex would also play for Rangers during Celtic’s spell of dominance in the 60s before moving on to Falkirk and finally Ayr United.

170 goals in 317 appearances isn’t a record to be sniffed at and here we can see Sir Alex in action for Ayr United at the tale end of his career scoring the winner against Motherwell.

Have United knocked Man C*ty out of the title race?
