According to Il Corriere dello Sport Manchester United are lining up a move for Javier Pastore.

Known as ‘Kaka Argentino’, the Palermo midfielder has won a number of admirers with his performances in Italy and has apparently done enough to convince Sir Alex Ferguson that he is the solution to the creative problems we face in midfield but Pastore and his agent have previously stated he plans to stay in Italy a little longer and they would have no qualms with signing an extension at the Sicilian club if Palermo opened contract talks.

Any bid from United will not go unopposed by both Palermo and other clubs, Man City were reported to have made a bid for him as recently as January, Barcelona were declared as suitors in October whilst Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has placed a massively inflated price on his head to ward off potential suitors.

Whilst we are said to be ready to spend €40m, Zamparini has set Pastore’s worth at €70m so if there us any truth to this rumour the fee could prove a massive stumbling block as the two parties are completely at odds in terms of a price.

Oh please, please, please make it so! I’m not the type of fan calling for a complete squad overhaul, but Pastore is simply one of the best talents in the world and plays in a position of which we’re in need. I’m sure they’ll find some middle ground on his transfer fee.

He will be too expensive, but a very talented player. We tried to sign him but he didn’t think he would play, so he signed for Palermo.

There’s no need for us to spend 40 odd million on one player! There are plenty of players out there who we could get for far less, Sahin,Gotze,Sanchez etc. I think it’s also important that we develop our own youngsters like Morrison,Pogba,Tunnicliffe,Petrucci etc, rather then spending huge sums of money on other young players.
