Manchester United’s kept up the pressure on league leaders Man City with an outstanding display against Fulham at the Craven Cottage –a place where they had not won any of their last three fixtures.

Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased with his side’s performance and told Sky Sports,

“I think it was one of our best performances of the season, particularly in the first half when we played some superb football.

“It is not an easy place to come, we have known that for years now but tonight he players were on song and continued on from their good performance on Sunday against QPR.”

Sir Alex also emphasized the need for patience as they pile the pressure on rivals Manchester City in the title race,

“Yes they do help. We showed good patience before we got the first goal though.                                                                                                                “We kept the ball, passed it around and got the penetration so it was a good start to the game and we got control and kept it until half time.”

Although a 5-0 win away win against Fulham should be all smiles, it wasn’t quite a happy night for the Red Devils as injuries to Phil Jones and Asheley Young added to their already long injury list.

Ferguson said of Jones’ injury,

“We’ll send him for an X-ray tomorrow. He had an elbow to his jaw. It was an elbow by Dempsey but I don’t think it was deliberate.”

About Asheley Young, who replaced Jones only to be substituted in the 59th minute, he said:

“Fulham were very aggressive and Asheley Young has paid the price for that. He’ll be out for two to three weeks.”

One response to “Sir Alex Impressed With United’s performance against Fulham”

  1. Andrew says:

The team did really well and to get 5 goals away to Fulham is terrific. I’m glad Berbatov got himself on the score sheet as well. He took his goal very well. He will be important for the second half of the season. I can understand the rumours of him leaving in January, but we should keep him. He might get a free transfer at the end of the season, but we should keep him until the end of his contract.

One shame is Ashley Young because we would have wanted him around for this festive period. Hopefully when he does return he can stay clear of injuries and start finding the form he had at the beginning of the season. The positive is Nani and Valencia because they have been playing really well, especially Nani.
