With it confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson recently watched Lille star Eden Hazard, the young Belgian has revealed that he would be open to offers from Manchester United.
It appears United are stepping up their chase for the attacker with United coach Rene Meulensteen also confirming that Hazard is a player that he and Sir Alex have spoken about about earlier in the month.
And upon hearing of United’s interest Hazard has reaffirmed that United is a club that interests him:
“I am flattered by the compliment coming from the top manager in world football.
“I did not know he was at the game to be honest but no one knew he came to watch me because I was not aware.
“Manchester United are a very top team and anyone would listen to them.”
It does look like we might challenge for his signature, but so will Manchester City. It will probably end up like Alexis Sanchez of last summer. He was a player it seems both Manchester teams wanted and City out bided everyone. It was the players own desire for Barcelona which saw that move take place.
It’s not likely Barcelona will get involved but I wouldn’t rule out Real Madrid for Hazard. We don’t have a great record of going up against other top teams for players and winning the race. The biggest transfer disappointment for me was when we lost Ronaldinho. We looked like being in the driving seat, but had to compete with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Barcelona. It was only Kenyon that screwed thing up and we lost him to Barcelona.
Hazard looks like this summer ‘must have player’ and maybe we will be involved. However I wouldn’t get too excited over the likelihood of actually winning the tussle for his signing. We do need a player like Hazard I think. He is a maverick and is capable of producing magic. We need to learn to adapt of a player like this into our team.
Ferguson will look to restructure our midfield next season. He wants Paul Pogba to sign a new deal and be apart of the change. We also have Tom Cleverley to add youth and freshness to the midfield. I could see someone like Shinji Kagawa being brought in because he is quality. He could be available for a very good fee of around £12 million. The commercial benefits of signing him would also be huge.
A defensive midfielder could be ideal, but we do have Carrick and maybe Fletcher next season. We would also be looking at Paul Pogba developing into a strong box to box midfielder. We also have the option of using Phil Jones in that role is required.
We are going to let Berbatov go in the summer and possibly Owen. Will Keane will go out on loan and so will Macheda. We won’t get another striker but instead look to bring in a player like Hazard.
I must say that i’ve really been incredibly astounded with the level of quality and written content on this website and I will definitely be back for some more studying and I would say it is also worth a bookmark!
