There was a debut for Alexander Buttner as well as starts for Darren Fletcher, Jonny Evans and Nick Powell ad Manchester United took on Tottenham at Moss Lane.

Having beaten their u18 counter parts on Saturday, A double from Kiko Macheda ensured their u21 side suffered the same fate and United didn’t have to wait long for the first goal.

A robust challenge from Ryan Tunnicliffe set Macheda free after a minute and whilst his initial shot was saved by the keeper, it deflected off him into the net to give United the lead.

United doubled this in the 50th minute when Nick Powell was brought down in the box by Adam Smith and Macheda stepped up to double his tally for the night.

Spurs grabbed a late consolation through Ryan Mason from the spot after Scott Wootton bundled over Harry Kane in the box but Spurs couldn’t find an equaliser with 10 minutes to, meaning United recorded their second win in the u21s this season.
