Wayne Rooney Twitter bio

Wayne Rooney has broken his silence, slamming rumours he removed the term ‘Manchester United player’ from his Twitter bio.

With news emerging that Rooney had asked for a move away from Old Trafford 2 weeks ago, some media outlets erronously reported that the striker had removed ‘Manchester United player’ from his bio and instead replaced it with ‘NikeUK Athlete’.

This served to heighten speculation that the 27 year old was looking for a way out of the Old Trafford door but today Rooney has slammed such rumours via a statement posted on his official website:

“There’s a load of rubbish being written about me changing twitter bio saying I have deleted Manchester United from it.
I have never deleted Manchester United from the bio whatever the papers are saying because it was never on there.
All that happened was that I was asked by Nike to add @nikeuk to it – the same as many other sportspeople they sponsor.
Funny, no-one’s written about that though!
That change was made THREE weeks ago and yet people are talking about it as if its something that was put up yesterday.”

He also included a statement from Nike but neglected to comment on the rumours that he wants to leave Old Trafford.
