Thiago

Any chances of Manchester United unveiling Thiago Alcantara at David Moyes’ first presser as United boss this afternoon have been dashed, after Barcelona revealed they haven’t actually received any offers for the midfielder.

Various news outlets have claimed that the player is close to agreeing a deal with United and it had been hoped that United would announce his signing in this afternoon’s presser but Sky Sports are reporting that Barcelona have received no offers for the midfielder.

Over the past few days there has been talk of Thiago’s father selling his restaurant in Barcelona in anticipation of a move to Manchester and Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta demanding a resolution to the protracted saga in the next 10 days but when approached by a Sky Sports, a Barcelona source is said to have told the channel:

“We still have not received any formal offer for the player.”

Whilst this doesn’t mean Thiago won’t be joining United, it definitely means that he won’t be announced as a United player this afternoon unless some serious work is done behind the scenes in the next few hours.

We don’t want any off Moyes secret adventures, we just want Thiago Alcantara, thank you very much. For the billion time he is just the player United need – eeven the Man Utd players talk highly about him, according to De Gea!!

  4. Andrea says:

Well said and remembered: according to De Gea the Man Utd players regulary speak highly about Thiago, in the past few weeks both Rio and Giggs have had not only spoke good stuff about him, but hoped we could sign him up. So please no adventures, Mr Moyes, you can see who your team wants including the fans, I doubt you can surprise us by signing someone better and cheaper than Thiago 22, for £17m!

  5. John says:

Why would thiago want to play for united when there is no one there to help progress when he has Xavi and iniesta to learn from who have won everything in world football plus bigger stadium and more passionate fans.

  9. Werner says:

Seriously no player is bigger than a club. If he does not want to leave Barca, then it is his choice aqnd he has to live with it.
If he does not sign, it is not the end of the world, we need a holding midfielder like strootman, who can also pass a ball.
